Main Research Contents:
The study was aimed to expose recent findings on alterations in the microbiota of colicky infants which could trigger or facilitate infant colic, and summarize the clinical and mechanistical evidence of several probiotic formulations for the management of infant colic.
Main Research Findings:
The probiotic group showed trend towards greater reduction in crying time in the probiotic group compared to placebo, after 14 days; increase in overall microbiota diversity; reduction in relative abundance of Enterobacteria and of Staphylococcus; significant increase in relative abundance of Bifidobacterium.
